Three New Life Members

On 24 September 2016 three new life memberships were awarded. Graham McAdam, who said he greatly appreciated his award, commenced as a Barrier Attendant in 1973 and then served as Assistant Starter for nine years and as Starter from 2004 to 2016.
Current President Graham Rewald and his wife Rae said they were honoured to receive life membership of the club which they joined in 1971. President since 2004, Mr Rewald paid tribute to past committees for maintaining a progressive and financially sound club.
Together he and his wife Rae ran Green Hills Stables where there were usually 16 horses in training and three apprentices. The family was extremely active and successful in the racing industry, with all five sons becoming jockeys.
During his presidency, Graham Rewald has overseen significant improvements to club amenities and averages three days a week of voluntary work to ensure the survival of racing in Taroom. He is also Chairman of the Eastern Downs Racing Association and a Delegate to the Queensland Country Racing Committee.
In 2015 Graham Rewald was a finalist the prestigious Minister’s Awards for Contribution to Country Racing and in 2016 he won the award at a gala event at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club.
