The Dawson Jockey Club has recently fenced in the stable area at the race track. Two sets of new gates have been installed including a set at the entrance to the mounting yard. Club President, Graham Rewald, said this is a significant improvement to the club's Work, Health and Safety standards. Because many people ask how the judges select the winners of the on-field fashions, the organisers have prepared some guidelines. For the winter race meeting they have also included a vintage-themed section for fashions from the 1940s to the 1960s. FOTF

The Dawson Jockey Club has recently installed 600 metres of running rail. The Brisbane Racing Club at Doomben provided the running rail and the posts were supplied by the Gold Coast Turf Club.
This was made possible by Queensland Racing's new Club Cooperation Scheme. Under the mentoring arrangement larger clubs support smaller clubs, such as the Dawson Jockey Club.
August 16, 2013 Caterers and patrons at the races had long had to contend with outdated facilities. In September 2012 following a successful application to QGC's Sustainable Communities Program a brand new kitchen with stainless steel benches, sinks, new appliances and a covered BBQ area was opened by QGC's Brett White.
